What is a ducted Mitsubishi heat pump?
A ducted Mitsubishi heat pump uses an indoor multi-position air handler connected to your home’s ductwork and an outdoor heat pump unit. It replaces both a gas furnace and a central air conditioner with one all-electric system that heats and cools the whole house.
Can a Mitsubishi heat pump use my existing ductwork?
Usually, yes. If your ducts are properly sized and in good condition, a ducted Mitsubishi system can connect to them. We inspect the ductwork during the in-home assessment and recommend sealing or modifications only where needed.
Will a Mitsubishi heat pump keep my home warm on the coldest nights?
Yes. Mitsubishi Hyper-Heating INVERTER® (H2i®) outdoor units are engineered for cold climates, and select models deliver their full rated heating capacity down to 5°F — far colder than Peninsula winters.
What is Mitsubishi Intelli-HEAT dual fuel?
Intelli-HEAT pairs a Mitsubishi heat pump with a gas furnace. The heat pump handles cooling and most heating, and the controls switch to the furnace only when it is more efficient or as backup. It is a common first step toward full electrification. Read about dual-fuel heating.
Do I still need a separate air conditioner?
No. A heat pump is also a high-efficiency air conditioner, so one Mitsubishi system provides both heating and cooling.
Do I need to upgrade my electrical panel for a heat pump?
Not always. Many homes can add a heat pump on existing electrical service, while others need a new circuit or a panel upgrade. We review your panel during the assessment and include any electrical work in your written proposal.
What size Mitsubishi heat pump does my home need?
The right size comes from a room-by-room load calculation that accounts for square footage, insulation, windows and orientation. Correct sizing is essential for comfort, efficiency and equipment life, which is why we never size by square footage alone.

How long does it take to replace a furnace with a heat pump?
It depends on the system and any ductwork or electrical work required. Your written proposal includes a project timeline before any work begins.
